Counts in Vim

Numbers are multipliers - and mastering this hex unlocks them everywhere. From here on, any command you know (and every one you learn next) takes a count prefix: 3j drops three lines, 5l hops five characters, 4x deletes four characters in one stroke.

Commands you practise

[count]j
Jump multiple lines in one keystroke: 3j drops three lines down. Counts work before almost every motion.
[count]l
Slide the cursor several characters right at once: 5l instead of tapping l five times.
[count]x
Delete several characters in one go: 4x removes the next four characters.

Levels

  1. Snooze the Alerts (easy): Clear the 8-character [ALERT] prefixes from each line.
  2. Jump to the Task (medium): Clear the 7-character [TODO] tags by skipping completed items.
  3. Pending No More (hard): Remove [PENDING] from all active users across both sections.

Each level opens a real Neovim session in your browser with a start file and a target file. Edit one into the other in as few keystrokes as you can, then race the vimbot's solution.
