Basic Movement in Vim

Use h, j, k, and l to move left, down, up, and right in Normal mode. x deletes the character under the cursor.

Commands you practise

h
Move the cursor one character to the left. Keep your fingers on the home row and step back through the line one tap at a time.
j
Press j to move the cursor down one line. Keep your hands on the home row and leave the arrow keys behind.
k
Move the cursor up one line. Keep your fingers on the home row instead of reaching for the arrow keys.
l
Move the cursor one character to the right. Step along the line tap by tap - the Counts hex right next door turns five taps into one hop.
x
Press x to delete the character right under your cursor. It is the quickest way to fix a typo in Normal mode.

Levels

  1. Triple Strike (easy): Delete the three unwanted leading characters to reveal the name.
  2. Single Line Squeeze (medium): Clean up the duplicated letters and spaces on this single line.
  3. The Hourglass Glitch (hard): Remove all the 'x' characters from the hourglass pattern using your movement keys.

Each level opens a real Neovim session in your browser with a start file and a target file. Edit one into the other in as few keystrokes as you can, then race the vimbot's solution.
